FIELD TRIAL EXPERIENCE DAY

SATURDAY 23 AUGUST 2025

Yesterday saw the last event of the clubs Working Tests and Training Season for 2025.

We could not have finished with a better event, postponed from earlier in the month, 10 members attended an exceptional learning experience provided by Graham Slater (Oakshot Gundogs).

Thank you to Graham and Heather who's support to the Club has been fantastic this year. Thanks also to Philip Wise for allowing the use of the ground at Skipton on Swale, and to Kate Kinder for coming and throwing dummies.

This was not a dog training day, in fact most of the day was spent listening, asking questions and having a general discussion about what could/would/does happen at Field Trials, with some scenarios of Field Trial experiences thrown in for good measure. Finishing with all attendees trying their dogs out on what may have appeared too be simple retrieves in the beet, but which proved to be more challenging than expected.

We hope everyone went away having a better understanding of what to expect and what is expected of them at a Trial. We also hope that on the way home, thinking over all the information they had been given, that those who attended have more questions, which I'm sure Graham will be happy to answer. Everyone went away with something specific to work on and hopefully we'll see some of you out trialling this season.
